The subject is better if you read it as the Narrator from The Rocky and Bullwinkle Show. :>
I figured by now I would have been completely demobilized from the oil spill recovery and resting in a hotel in New Orleans ready to take a flight back home tomorrow morning.
Unfortunately I'm still waiting on a phone call from the Unified Command authorizing my chief and I to depart. Just one phone call, that's all I'm waiting for. So I went in to work this morning and finished passing off responsibilities to other persons and then just twiddled my thumbs for a bit. Chief told me to go back to my camp and wait for him to let me know we can leave. I did receive a call from him a few hours ago, but that was only to return to work to finish some paperwork so that once the REAL phone call comes, we can leave in a blink.
And so I'm still waiting. Gah! To quote Marion, from 'Mongrels', "I want to tear my eyes out with my own claws... and then stomp on them... with my own claws!" I hate this hurry up and wait crap.
To help me pass the time I decided to check out a movie streaming on Netflix called "Yesterday Was A Lie". I'm a sucker for any modern movie doing a film noir throwback, and this one starred a bourbon addicted tough-as-nails private eye in a world slowly becoming more and more surreal. Did I mention the lead is a woman and she's fucking awesome? 'Cause she is. Plus there's a whole lot of metaphysical Jungian psychology timeline stuff that I just could not wrap my head around, but SEEMED to be pretty cool. I guess I'm just not smart enough for that kind of thing. Still, I loved the setting, the music, the acting, the photography, and practically everything about this movie. I'm chalking this up as one of my "must buys". Thanks, Netflix!
Now to think of something else to do while I wait. *breaks out a Parcheesi board to play by himself*

dayshours?Go here, start with the first story arc (on the top menu bar where it says "Choose a story." pick "10%+" ... the other arcs are great too, though Pika is a one-shot April Fool's. Secretary is the second story arc, and the current one is Lycosa, still running)
Anyway seriously I cannot praise this comic enough, and 10%+ makes me a little weepy every time I re-read it.

And yes, please look up the movie. Just be prepared if things don't make sense at first. It's NOT a historical throwback. I mean, there are many reasons to feel like it's in the 1930's, but you'll see a random cell phone or computer thrown in there somewhere, so it's really a parallel world. But that gets explained. Slightly. I think. o_o God what a movie!

I did look up Yesterday Was a Lie and my, it looks interesting. Might be able to find it at one of the several excellent indie movie-rental places around here.
